Stocked — No ads on Sundays

Update Released

Version 0.7.77-Beta started rolling out across devices today.

Please note that this and future updates will not be available to devices running Android versions prior to 4.1 (aka Jelly Bean). For the time being a previous version of this app (version 0.5.59) will remain available for installs on those older devices.

Change Log

User Interface Changes:

  • Switched app over to dark mode, currently there is no option to have any other themes than dark mode.
  • The button to refresh data is no longer needed and has been removed. Now data will continuously refresh on its own as you switch between the lists. This also removes that wonky page reload which use to happen a few seconds after hitting the refresh button.
  • Unfortunately, due to the redesign of the tabs, the option to swipe left and right to move between lists isn't currently possible.
  • The bar chart graphics showing how valuable a group of keywords is has been fixed to scale across devices, so that it will no longer be blurry around the edges.

Advertisement Changes:

  • Ads will not be shown any time the app is used on a Sunday (as long as you have Android 4.1, aka Jelly Bean, or higher). The other six days of the week there will be one small ad at the top of the home screen. This has been deliberately placed as far away from any controls as possible to avoid accidental taps.
  • The ad on the screen showing the list of links to popular examples has been removed.
  • There have never been and still won't be any full screen ads whatsoever.

Known Issues

Repeated items:

  • On any fresh open of the app the entire list of items in the "Stream" view seems to be duplicated. Scrolling from the beginning to the end of the list you may notice halfway through the items are all the same as the ones seen above.
  • Going to any other screen and coming back removes the duplicates.
  • Hopefully this will be resolved in the next release.

Road Map

  • I hope to add the option for users to list their own favorite stock photo sites in the "Popular Examples" area.
  • I would like to show a trending sparkline for items in the "24 Hr" and "7 Day" lists in place of the purple bar charts so that it is easy to see how the items are moving around during the given time period.
  • Currently the "Stream" list shows the most recent items and is updated every time you return to look at it. I would like to hold items around a bit longer once you have seen them, while still adding fresh items to the top of the list. This way you won't lose something interesting in the list because new items show up. So instead of items being pushed off the bottom by fresh data, they will fall off on their own as they age.
