What's New (in version 1.1.2)
- New setting added to the settings menu to swap between easy and hard mode.
- Defaults to easy mode until you change it to hard mode.
- Easy mode is the same as what was already available in the game in previous versions of the app.
- Hard mode will start with the full keyboard. Which makes you stop and think about which book is missing vs being able to glance at the keyboard and easily figure it out without even looking at the book before and book after.
- As you get letters correct during hard mode, the other keys that are unneeded will disappear. Wrong keys will also disappear if you hit them and they are not needed at all for the current word.
- Slowly beginning to rename the app from "Bible Speller" to "Bible Books" as the focus of this app originally was to be a spelling game but now I hope to start adding in more play modes that focus on learning the books and less on learning how to spell.
- Fixed issue where sky was showing at the bottom edge of the screen sometimes on some devices.
- Fixed issue where the title text was halfway covered by the banner ad on some devices.
- Added clouds to all places that didn't have them yet.
Android 5.1 and higher
- Devices running these versions of android should receive this app update as soon as it is approved for release in the Play Store and begins a rollout to all devices.
Android 4.1 to Android 5.0
- Devices running these versions of android will not receive this or future updates. To upgrade to a newer version of the app you will first need to update the version of android running on your device. This is a limitation imposed by Unity (the software used to develop the app), as they no longer support older versions of android. For the time being, an old version of the app (version 0.7.93-3116-Beta) will be in the Play Store and will be available to those older devices. As of today 98.4% of all active android devices in the world run versions newer than this. As for this app specifically only 1 current user will remain with this version of the app.
Android versions 4.0.3 and lower
- Devices running these versions of android will not see an available version of the app in the Play Store. If they already have an older version of the app installed it will remain playable but if uninstalled the app may be lost until a newer version of android is used. Both Unity and the Play Store are constantly requiring newer and newer versions of android and as such older versions are no longer supported. Upgrade your version of android to get access to this app. As of today >99.9% of all active android devices in the world run versions newer than this. As for this app specifically all current users are running newer versions of android than this.
Road Map
These are the things I hope to build into the app someday. These may or may not happen but they are what I am planning to work on.
- Win/Lose Flow:
Idea: Would like to make a better interface for when you win or lose a game. It could show a summary of some statistics such as the collectables gained during play or the length of time it took to win.
Status: Haven't started yet. - More Play Modes:
Idea: Currently random mode and sorted mode are the only play modes. Would like to add some new play modes that don't involve spelling the book names. Such as multiple choice answering which book is selected when one book is chosen from the entire Bible; or quick draw mode where you are given a book name and have to flip to it as fast as possible.
